Superformance Future GT Forty SEMA

Superformance, the leading manufacturer of 1960s-era continuation sports cars, debuted a one-of-a-kind GT40 MKI today in the MagnaFlow booth at the 2018 SEMA Show. This purpose-built supercar pays tribute to the historic success of the Ford GT40, while incorporating design notes and the EcoBoost V6 powerplant from the current Ford GT. The press conference was hosted by TV star Cristy Lee, MagnaFlow’s Rich Waitas, with remarks by vehicle owners Doug and Marissa Campbell.
“The reaction to the ‘Future GT Forty’ has been mind-blowing,” Campbell said. “The idea for this car came to me while watching the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans - fast forward a year and a half later and we’re debuting it at the SEMA Show.”
The launch of this vehicle celebrates the 50th anniversary of the GT40’s first-place victory at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race and pays tribute to the modern Ford GT and its current success in the GT class of the European Le Mans Series. The Superformance GT40 MKI is the hig…

IT’S SUPRA TIME: TOYOTA SUPRA TO DEBUT IN DETROIT

Confirming one of the auto industry’s worst-kept secrets, Toyota today announced that the premiere appearance of the much-anticipated 2020 Toyota Supra will be at the 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, taking place from 14 to 27 January next year.
Although Toyota ceased production of its highly popular flagship sportscar in 2002, it was revived in the form a GR Supra Racing Concept at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, demonstrating the intention to bring Supra back to the market.
This Supra prototype has already appeared in front of fans at a number of events this year. In July, it made its international debut in prototype form at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Earlier this month, Supra also took part in a VLN Endurance Championship race at the Nürburgring in Germany, completing the race as part the vehicle’s development programme.
Toyota expects the new Supra to reach markets worldwide during the first half of 2019.

2019 Ford GT Carbon Series

30 OCTOBER 2018 DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 30, 2018 – The Ford GT Carbon Series will be shredding tracks soon as the lightest of the road-going Ford supercars – and unlike its sibling racer, it will want to be driven home after time sheets are collected.
The new limited-edition model drops nearly 40 pounds with a host of lightweighting innovations such as carbon fiber wheels, a titanium exhaust, titanium lugnuts and a polycarbonate rear hatch with additional venting.
Ford engineers added just enough conveniences – air conditioning, a radio and SYNC® 3 – for those customers who want to drive to and from the track in comfort. But they drew the line to keep the weight in check by removing cupholders and the driver’s side seat storage bin.
This third Ford GT special edition features more visible carbon fiber than any previous model, along with optional accent colors, to stand out from the lineup and communicate its chicane cravings.
“The Ford GT Carbon Series stands out on the road with its s…
